Gary Neville has finally conceded that it will be Liverpool who wins the Premier League title this season having previously hung to his pre-season prediction that Arsenal would eventually come out on top.

Liverpool moved 11 points clear at the top of the standings by beating Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai scoring first-half goals to move their side into the ascendency.

"They haven't won it, obviously... but they have," Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast. "They have not just gone 11 points clear, but psychologically you feel unbeatable after a game like today.

"There will be such a warmth and a togetherness in that dressing room. It will be electric. You constantly have to guard against complacency but there are a few in there who have won titles before.

"It's such an exciting period for them to look forward to and I don't think they'll get complacent. Injuries are a factor and sometimes crazy things can happen. But for that to happen, you need a team behind you looking like they are going to put pressure on you.

"What happened with Arsenal [against West Ham] was significant. They're losing to West Ham and that's a game they have to win. I said a few weeks ago that all Arsenal can do is wait there in case Liverpool slip up, but they're not there.

"Liverpool could slip up twice, three times [and it wouldn't matter]. Arsenal have to win every single match. It's getting more and more difficult by the week. It's a massive day in the Premier League title [race]. It's a big, big moment."

Arne Slot has played Pep Guardiola twice now and won both times without conceding a goal. And Neville was hugely impressed by what he saw from Liverpool, who killed the game in the second half.

"Whatever the game needed, they would have delivered that," Neville continued. "If City got one back, Liverpool would have gone up a gear and got a third. They were so much in control. They were never in doubt today."

Liverpool.com says: There is no doubt that getting through this period was going to be big for Liverpool and the Reds appear to have done that. Newcastle will be tricky midweek but it feels likelier that Liverpool would win than Arsenal would go to Nottingham Forest and get the three points. That is ultimately what has made Neville change his mind: even if Liverpool drops off, the Gunners don't look capable of capitalizing.
